Download and share data with an iPhone

iPhone & MacBook Pro

During my holidays I had a Wordpress website to implement for a friend. I needed a plugin to display a two level menu to finish the job but had no internet connection, only an iPhone and edge.

As Safari mobile is not able to download, my first idea to grab the plugin was to ask a friend to download it and send it by email, then I could synchronize my mail accounts between the iPhone and my laptop.

The synchronization didn’t work so I had to figure out something else.

I looked for a solution to force download with Safari mobile and found the Netservices application. Finally I had to connect in ssh to the iPhone. For that I simply created a network using airport so the iPhone gets an IP I could use.

No need to say that this is a complicated way to share a simple file between 2 Apple products….
